About Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of deep relaxation and focused concentration to achieve a naturally occurring and heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance. During hypnotherapy, a person may focus their attention, with the help of a trained hypnotherapist, on specific thoughts or tasks. It’s a type of mind-body medicine that can be used to help you gain control over undesired behaviors or to help you cope better with anxiety or pain.

How Does It Work?

By inducing a state of deep relaxation, focused concentration and attention, hypnotherapy allows you to be more open to suggestions to making healthful changes in your perceptions, sensations, emotions, memories, thoughts, and behaviours

What Should I Expect?

A trained and certified hypnotherapist will guide you into a deep state of focus and relaxation with verbal cues, repetition, and imagery. When you’re under hypnosis, this intense level of concentration and focus allows you to ignore ordinary distractions and be more open to guided suggestions to make changes to improve your health. Although you are more open to suggestion during hypnotherapy, you don’t lose control over your behaviour.

What Is It Used For?

Hypnotherapy can be used to help you gain control over undesired behaviours or to help you cope better with anxiety or pain.

About Neurofeedback

What Is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a drugless approach to addressing brainwave imbalance. Brainwave imbalances can result or present as neurological conditions such as: ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, learning disorders, and depression. Rebalancing brainwaves can lead to improved functionality, health and wellbeing.

How Does It Work?

A certified neurofeedback practitioner will conduct a comprehensive QEEG assessment—or brain mapping—to measure your brainwave patterns to determine imbalances. Based on your unique brain map, a customized plan of care is created to retrain and normalize your brainwave imbalances. Based on this customized plan of care, you will undergo a series of brain-training sessions using a state-of-the-art computer-based system.

Sensors are placed on the scalp in key areas of the brain. These sensors send information (neurofeedback) on your brainwaves to the BRAINCORE NEUROFEEDBACK computer system which, in turn, sends information back to your brain through visual and audio signals. Through a process called operant conditioning, your brain will learn how to better regulate its brainwaves.

What Should I Expect?

Each neurofeedback session can last between 30-60 minutes in length, and, depending on your customized plan of care, the number of sessions you may require can range between 20-40 sessions. Most patients show improvement within the first 4-8 sessions. Long term follow-up studies show results can last up to 40 years.
